stylin' Teacher Tuesday

Yeah, they have no shoes on...In fact, Bulldog is still missing that shoe. Oh, and let's just talk about what Monkey is wearing. For some reason, bio dad thinks that 2T pants and 5T shorts are the same thing! Ugh.

I know, we're total dorks!

Sunday (in pictures).

Most of our day was spent outside. The weather was fantastic! The winds from Saturday had died down, making it a perfect day for doing farm stuff...like pulling the mulch away from the barely blooming crocuses, and clipping the pony to get rid of its over abundant winter coat...eeeeee...what a fluffy babe!

Winter isn't that pretty here--unless it snows. The farm looks a little rough this time of year, especially right now since we've had no rain for quite awhile. The land just looks thirsty. Oh well, it is what it is. I'm hoping that as the dafs (my favorite) grow and bloom it will liven up the place a bit.

So, here are our pics from Sunday.

First signs of spring!

The horses get their rugs off. That must feel great to them.

Check out that tiny fluff ball. Looks more like a baby dino than a pony.

Holy god, Look at all that hair! AND that's only half finished. I've been trying to come up with some kind of horse hair craft. Throw pillow anyone (*shudder*)? Doll wigs?

A walk in the woods with the boys.

Bulldog wasn't so into the idea of standing up on the logs.

Hope your Sunday was pleasant and relaxing as well.
xoxo

Saturday

We've busted out the old jeep to get her ready for some Sunday drives! With weather like we've been having, it would be so fun to drive around the countryside in the old girl! Granted we probably won't take her too far with gas prices as high as they are at the moment! She's a beaut though, no?

I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy some much needed alone time on Saturday morning. Ian kept the littles while I scooted off to Anthropologie for a little window shopping. I basically drooled all over all the spring dresses! Seriously, so good. Maybe by the time fall rolls around I'll be able to afford one or two of them on clearance. Probably not though. I go in that store and I instantly feel at ease. It's the smell for sure. I think I need some of whatever they perfume that place with at my own house. Then maybe I wouldn't be such a high strung freak! Ah..aromatherapy at its best.

Monkey spent his third weekend with Dad this past weekend. The judge is wanting reunification ASAP. Dad just has to get his plans in place. We'll see how long that takes. I'll post a separate post about fostering one day when I feel that I can express myself clearly on the subject. I haven't quite come to terms with my emotions about it all yet, so stay tuned for that one later. When he does finally leave for good, am I going to have to change the name of the blog to just Bulldog?

Our Saturday plans to spend some much needed time outside getting the garden prepped for spring were thwarted by the out of control winds! Someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that March is still a week away! Admittedly, it was kinda nice. Bulldog and I curled up for some cuddle time while A. played the wii. It was a win win for everyone--well, except maybe for the garden.

We treated the boys to an evening out at Red Robin--I know, classy right? We were completely blown away at how people allow their kids to act when they are at a 'kid friendly' restaurant. Just because there are TV's in the floor and free balloons, doesn't make it ok for your kids to throw food or remove their clothes at the dinner table. Come on, people! The kids loved it though, and I suppose the food wasn't awful enough not to go back again sometime. We'll see.

All in all, a good day. How was your Saturday?

Valentine's Day

I think my post yesterday was a bit selfish. I really love that shirt I had on, so I wanted to showcase it in a few wardrobe shots. It was actually a Valentine's present to myself--once again, selfish. Today, however, I realized that in my selfishness I failed to mention my lovely family and the big role they played in my happy Valentine's day--and all my happy days for that matter. I was also completely showered in love by my students. They are so much fun to teach and were especially sweet that day.
In fact, one kinda tough kid gave me a Valentine's note, which I accidentally shrugged off as a little unimportant based on how sloppy the writing was. It wasn't until later (when behavior became a problem) that I realized I had hurt his feelings by not paying more attention to the note's message. See, selfish a-hole. I had to keep him after class to apologize for not taking his Valentine seriously.
When I got home, I was greeted by a dozen beautiful orangey-pink roses and one ever so grumpy toddler--that's OK though. Not only that, Ian made dinner. Oh yeah...and I also had another dozen red roses sent to me in the mail with an unsigned note reading 'to the love of my life'. I was totally convinced my mom sent them to me just in case the hubs forgot.

Turns out, they were from Ian all along, which he didn't own up to until the next day. Sweet huh?

We all ate a nice dinner together then the kids got to have their Valentine's treats. The littles got sock monkeys and matchbox cars, and A. got a Lego Ninja--and of course, there was chocolate all around. There goes the diet for a few days!

Along with the goodies, I always make the kids Valentines. I put them away each year, and will probably keep them forever.

After the babies had all gone to bed (including the hubs), the TV and I ended Valentine's day with the Bachelor. So romantic.

Overall it was a nice day. I hope you all had a nice one too!

Happy Heart Day.

I decided to make A.'s Valentine's this year. Am I crazy? Full time job, three kids, a house under renovation, and I decide I need one more thing to do. Maybe I am just a little crazy. I just thought it would be a fun project for us to do together, and as it turns out, we could use this craft to go towards rank for his tiger badge. I borrowed this Valentine idea from Merrilee at Mer Mag.
. Hers are just adorable, but A. wanted the girlies in his class to have fairy princesses instead of girlie pirates. So....here's our version.
Thanks for the inspiration, Merrilee.

Here are a few more pictures from our day.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope your day is filled with love.

Bynum

A. was invited to a Valentine's party in Bynum on Saturday. Bynum is a teeny, tiny community that was built around a now defunct mill in Chatham county. The houses are super cute. Little mill houses with tin roofs and lots of bright colors. The community revolves around a little country store that is known for its front porch music sessions. Heard of Tift Merritt? She's from Bynum. It is also known for folk artist Clyde Jones. He makes chainsaw critters, and every house in Bynum sports at least one in the yard--if not several. They're kinda a tetanus shot waiting to happen, but cool none the less.

When I first started teaching in Chatham, I kinda wanted to move to Bynum--the buzz of it being in a cancer cluster definitely kept us away. However, it's super artsy and quaint, and filled with interesting folks. I bet living there would be a blast.

A. enjoyed the party. The weather was beautiful kids all had a great time. The little girl who hosted the get together even gave my little man a little Valentine's smooch when he left. So cute.

Here are a couple of pics of Bynum and its critters.

Cute, right?

Snow

Dear Snow.
I love you.
Big
soft
fat
flakes.
You accessorize barren branches
and wrap the ground in a white, fluffy coat.

However, next time....could we have a enough for a two hour delay?
Geesh!

Love Songs

Heard this song on the way to work this morning and just had to share.

Then I found this one:

Aren't they just perfect for Valentine's Day? I just have to buy this record.

stylin' teacher Tuesday

Unfortunately not so stylin' today. I have basketball duty after school until like 8:00 (ugh), so I thought a skirt just wouldn't do for the day. I actually ended up changing into flats before the game.

Details:
shirt: Nordstrom rack
cords: Target
shoes: Aldo

By the way, the Practical Posies in Pink from Modcloth is what I wish I was wearing today. How cute would it be with gray or olive tights and little cardi for Valentine's day!

Happy Tuesday,
~L

**Yeah, I know I'm posting a day late...stinkin'basketball duty.

Wardrobe Wednesday

Even though I've only done one other Wardrobe Wednesday post, I found myself really scouring the closet last night looking for an outfit interesting enough to photograph. I like this outfit. It's the first time that I've put this combo together. The tights are new--Thank you Old Navy and your 75% off sale. They are a perfect match for the dress that I found at the thrift store last week. You can't really see it in the picture, but the dress has little blue polka dots that perfectly match. Can I just say that I love these boots! My mom bought them for me after Christmas as a 'thank you for not being your brother' present....that's a whole other story I may get into one day. Trust me when I say its a doozy. Anyway, lucky me... I scored big time.

Dress: thrift
Sweater & tights: Old Navy
Belt: Cato, maybe?
Boots: Aldo
Pecan necklace: Thrift
Ring: Hotcakes

Today was a good day. My kids were pretty well behaved and enjoyable--students and my actual kids. The weather was wonderful. I so desperately wanted to take the kids for a walk after school, but we really needed to buckle down and focus on A's pine wood derby car. I'll post about that experience after the derby is finished on Saturday.

I'm winding down my day with a cup on orange spice tea and Modern Family. Then I'm off to bed.

Happy Monday.

Stylin' Teacher Tuesday

So, I've decided that Tuesdays will be about teacher fashion...or what my husband calls 'my dowdy wardrobe'. Of course, if it were up to him I'd be in thigh length boots and fitted dresses everyday....hmmm...I've just come to realize that (even though he complains) I dress girl cute, not boy cute. You know what I mean? I'm definitely looking to impress fashionable girls, not stinky boys!

Wardrobe Details:
shirt: thrift
sweater: F21

I hope that once I have some more people visiting B&M that I may be able to feature some other stylish teachers. Until then, I guess it'll just be me.

I hope you all feel girl cute today.
